Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Charles Davis of Indianapolis sitting on a crate and resting his feet. He sits at right with his back to camera and looks off towards the background at left. He sits with a foot propped over his knee and holds it in his hand. He sits atop a wine crate that is propped up on its short side. The crate reads, "ZINFANDEL M.LEVY & CO. 227 [...] 229 MAIN [...]." A rucksack sits on the ground at center and to the left of Charles Davis. The butt of a gun sits on the ground at right. A wide white streak stretches vertically through the image at right. Text from negative sleeve: Acton, Calif. About October 1906. Guy West, H.H.West and Charles Davis, who was Western Agent for G and J Tire Co. Indianapolis, Indiana, took S.P. train to Acton one night. Staid[sic] at the hotel all night. Got a rig next morning at livery stable and went out quail hunting. Charles Davis, with my automatic 12 gauge gun. Davis at edge of field looking for quail. Davis feet hurt. Takes off his shoes. Davis sees a bottle by the canteen and hunches along on his belly to get it. 4 negatives
