Photograph of an unidentified boy sitting in a small, rowed barge and escorting about a couple score of ducks killed on a duck shoot by H. H. West and company at the Otay Reservoir. The shoreline of Lower Otay Lake stretches from the lower left corner up to the right. The boy sits at left towards the back of the small barge that is partially ashore. The ducks lie in rows in front of him at center. Oars are affixed to the barge on either side of the boat. Another boat is partially ashore on the right. The lake expands into the distance and hills rise the background. Text from negative sleeve: 588. Otay Reservoir, San Diego, Co. 1909. W.L.Tibbals of the Tibbals Auto Supply Co. asked Guy West and H.H.West to come to San Diego for a duck shoot on the Otay Reservoir, as a guest of a man named Babcock who was the Manager of the Coronado Hotel. Had a swell shoot. Dont[sic] know who the boy is with the ducks. Babcock told us to shoot all themud[sic] hens that came our way. He sacked them and took them to Coronado ice house and served "Salami of Wild Duck" to the Coronado Hotel guests. 3 negatives
