Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Webster Brain holding a dead rabbit that has been sliced open and examines it after a shoot in Irwindale. He stands center and holds the animal in front of him as he looks down at it. His hat obscures his face. Behind him, a few guns lie upon a low boulder at right. A tree stands behind the boulder. A couple more dead rabbits lie on a small rock behind him at left. Some wooden blinds(?) stand further behind him on the left. Mountains rise in the distance at left. Text from negative sleeve: 606. Irwindale, Calif. About 1900. May have been back as far as 1897. We used to catch the Redlands local out of Los Angeles Arcade depot at 8 a.m. Sunday, ride to Irwindale, just this side of Covina and get off and hunt quail and rabbits toward the mountains. Used to get fine hunting. Would come back to Irwindale and catch the Redlands train returning, which came thru Irwindale about 4:15 p.m. We all worked for the S.P. and had passes.
