He stands atop rocks that extend from near the lower right corner on an upward angle to the left. A couple of rocky formations jut out of the ocean at right. The ocean extends into the distance. Text from negative sleeve: 631. Laguna Beach, 1914. April. Glen Velzy and I had planned to make a trip to Owens Valley for trout on the opening, which was April 1 that year. 1914. Came heavy rains and I phoned Mojave and found roads covered with water and as we had our cars packed and ready to go, we went down to Laguna Beach and put up at the hotel. Next morning we went down to the cliffs below town. Velzy fishing from the rocks catches a sculpin. Not so good. We help a fellow [handwritten:] Name DeNum(?) [end handwritten] roll his launch into the surf for the coming season, and to tune it up, takes us for a run down toward San Onofre in the kelp. We caught several hundred pounds of fish. On the way home we stopped and took my picture with some of the fish we were bringing home at the Newport Beach pier. My Buick in the rear. 6 negatives.
