Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Glen Velzy carrying his fishing rod and the fish he caught up the rocky shore in Laguna Beach. He stands at center trying to hold his rod in one hand and a fishing line with a fish hanging off it from the other. His hand nearest to camera obscures his face as he looks down. A small wave crashes against the rock behind him. The rocky shore extends from the lower left corner and an upward angle to the right. The coastline reenters the frame at right and stretches on a slight upward angle to the left. Text from negative sleeve: 631. Laguna Beach, 1914. April. Next morning we went down to the cliffs below town. Velzy fishing from the rocks catches a sculpin. Not so good. We help a fellow [handwritten:] Name DeNum(?) [end handwritten] roll his launch into the surf for the coming season, and to tune it up, takes us for a run down toward San Onofre in the kelp. We caught several hundred pounds of fish. On the way home we stopped and took my picture with some of the fish we were bringing home at the Newport Beach pier. My Buick in the rear. 6 negatives.
