West posing for a photograph next to fish caught by him and his fishing party near Newport Beach pier. H. H. West stands at right and looks towards the camera while cradling an upright fishing rod. He props a foot on a crate, which reads, "HYDRO PUR." On his other side, a long beam extends from his hip horizontally to the left. About a score of fish hang vertically from this beam. Slightly elevated from the beach, a small dwelling stands in the background at left. Left-of-center, H. H. West's Buick is parked up the small hill behind him and telephone poles extend into the distance at right. Text from negative sleeve: 631. Laguna Beach, 1914. April. [end handwritten] roll his launch into the surf for the coming season, and to tune it up, takes us for a run down toward San Onofre in the kelp. We caught several hundred pounds of fish. On the way home we stopped and took my picture with some of the fish we were bringing home at the Newport Beach pier. My Buick in the rear. 6 negatives.
