Group sits on a horse-drawn covered wagon with houses and trees in the background. A fence stretches along the road behind them. There is a lantern hanging at the back of the wagon. Margaret Burris holds a stalk of what may be what with its roots and dirt at the bottom. A horse is visible behind Will Mead.
On the wagon, left to right, they are: Walter Biddick, Grace Biddick, Fannie Mead Biddick, Will Biddick, Asenath Burris, Independence (Inda) Stevens, and two unidentified people. Standing, left to right, they are: Margaret Burris, Emma Manker, Will Mead.
Fannie Mead Biddick and Will Mead were brother and sister and H. H. West's first cousins. William Biddick was Fannie's husband, and Grace Biddick and Walter Biddick were their children.
Text from negative sleeve: 634. East. Red Oak, Iowa. Meads. September 1900. At Lewis Lake. In the summer of 1900 I took mother east for a trip. We stopped at Red Oak, Iowa, went up to Elliott, and thence out to Mead's farm 7 miles east of Elliott. While at Meads, Will Mead got up a party to go to Lewis Lake, a few miles north of their farm. Here is the rig, and the party. I cannot recall all who were along but there was Will Biddick, Fannie Biddick, Walter Biddick, Grace Biddick, Emma Manker, India [sic] Stevens, Sena Burris, Maggie Burris, H. H. West, Will Mead. 3 films.
