Independence (Inda) Stevens adjusts Emma Manker's hat. He also wears a hat. His legs are crossed. She has her hands resting on her lap and wears a bow at her neck. They sit on a low bench or cart. There are trees behind them. At the left there is a black strip and on the other side there is what appears to be the image of another negative.
Text from negative sleeve: 636. East. Red Oak, Iowa. Meads. Lewis Lake, September 1900. See Nos. 634 and 635. Emma Manker in bathing suit in the pool, or Lewis Lake as it was called. Emma Manker in a boat on the Nishabotany [sic] river. Think it is India [sic] Stevens and Maggie Burris in the other boat. Will Mead decorating Emma Manker's hat. 3 negatives.
