Hand, Jr. (right) and two other men standing in a circle and having a conversation at a picnic hosted by the Independent Order of Foresters at their Sanatorium in Lopez Canyon. The group stands at center and Hand holds a small notebook in his hands. He faces towards the left. A woman walks away from the camera at left. Two small buildings stand behind the group at left and right. A wide, vertical band of white passes through the image at left. Text from negative sleeve: 647. Lopez Canyon, I. O. F. Sanitarium. Xxxxx September 26, 1937. The Foresters hold a picnic and we go. "Red" - the boy who used to wait on me and bring my meals when I was there in the spring of 1936. Frank Hand at the right. Don't know the others. Two pictures on one film, but Dr. Dickson can plainly be seen. Doc operated on my neck under the left ear for a fibroid tumor. I was in the Sanitarium in 1936 for 3 months. Got a good rest. 3 negatives
