Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. H. H. West's cousin, William Mead, drinks from a bucket filled with water from a spring. He wears a hat. There are barrels on either side of him. A gun leans on the wooden fence, which surrounds the wooden structure that covers the spring. Text from negative sleeve: East. Red Oak, Iowa. Meads farm. Sept. 1900. Will Mead taking a drink at the old spring by a slough in a pasture on the farm. We went down to Biddick, a little cross road corner settlement, where there was a blacksmith shop and store. Here Will Mead and some of the other farmer boys had a barrel of clay blackbirds, and we took them out in a pasture behind the blacksmith shop for a shoot. Will Mead with gun getting ready to shoot. A boy has just set the trap for the throw. 2 negatives.
