Text from negative sleeve: 672. Monrovia, Calif. October 30, 1898. Sawpit canyon. Going over into the canyon from Monrovia, Guy West in the distance. George M.West wanted to test Sawpit canyon for gold. Went in with a miner's tent, with aid of Uncle Frank Lemberger who lived at Monrovia. We went over one Sunday to see him.
