Glen Velzy and I had been fishing at Laguna, and on the way home stopped at Newport Beach and took some photos of our catch. 7 pictures of myself with our fish. 4 pictures of Glen Velzy with our fish. 2 pictures of myself on the Newport Pier with a big sea bass some fellow had caught. 2 pictures of the fellow who caught the big sea bass. Now unknown. 15 negatives. Photograph of H. H. West posing in Newport Beach with fish he and Glen Velzy caught. H. H. stands right-of-center and looks to the camera. He holds one end of a wooden beam that extends horizontally towards the left where it rests in a wooden post. A dozen or more fish dangle from the beam. He cradles a fishing rod in the bend of his opposite elbow and props his foot upon a crate, which reads, "HYDRO PURA," and "TWO DOZ. WATER SOFTENER THE BEST CLEANSER KNOWN HYDRO PURA BATH TOILET LAUNDRY KITCHEN SCHALK CHEMICAL CO. LOS ANGELES, CAL." Sand bags sit piled up behind H. H. on the right. Waves crash on the beach in the distance at left. A pier stretches across the background.
