Description

Photograph, from left to right, of Otto Schmitz, Al Schmitz, Charles Stavnow and Elmer Cole eating and cooking in their campsite near Piru Creek. The group is gathered in the near distance at right. Situated nearest to camera is Elmer Cole, who sits on a rock at right. He holds a cup in one hand and with the other cooks a fish in a pan at left. He looks at the fish he's cooking. Otto Schmitz, Al Schmitz and Charles Stavnow all stand behind Elmer Cole and eat. Otto Schmitz kneels at center and faces right. Al Schmitz stands to the right of him and faces slightly right. Charles Stavnow stands behind and to the right of Elmer. He faces slightly towards the left. The group's food supplies and cooking utensils sit on the ground surrounding Elmer Cole. Their tent stands to the left and is surrounded by camping gear. H. H. West's shadow enters the image along the bottom edge at left. A hillside covered in chaparral stands in the background.
