He holds a cup in one hand and with the other attends to a pan at center. He looks towards the pan. Otto Schmitz and Charles Stavnow both kneel in the background to the left of Elmer Cole. Otto Schmitz kneels at left. He faces right as he lifts a cup to his mouth. Charles Stavnow kneels behind Elmer's outstretched arm. He faces slightly towards the right and looks down at the food in his hands. The group's food supplies and cooking utensils sit on the ground surrounding Elmer Cole.
