By 1900 H. H. West and other members of his family lived in Los Angeles.
Text from negative sleeve: 774. East. Red Oak, Iowa. 1900. Old West home, looking north west over Austin's fence, being the south east corner of our yard. It was this tight board fence between our yard and Austin's that we shot our sawed off shot gun barrel cannon at and smashed the board. Sam Longstreet is standing at the [handwritten:] left. ["right" crossed out]
