Text from negative sleeve: 785. East. Red Oak, Iowa. 1900. The old Daniel Mead home which adjoined our place on the west. Father built the place for Daniel Mead, who had married Lucy West, father's sister. Mead traded the home for the Longstreet farm 18 miles north east of Red Oak, and 7 miles east of Elliott, Iowa. Longstreets were living in the home. Sam Longstreet in front by the big cottonwood tree. Our old barn shows just thru the rear left.
