Home of Smith McPherson. The house has a stone porch and gabled windows. Trees surround the home.
Text from negative sleeve: 795. East. Red Oak, Iowa. 1900. Smith McPherson's home. Built by George M. West. Was an attorney, and finally became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Iowa. Warm friend of fathers [sic]. When McPherson came to Los Angeles in a private car in about 1905, father met him at the depot and remained with him until he left town. The home was up on the hill near the East Ward School. [Handwritten:] US Judge - Federal - Dist. of Sou [sic] West Iowa?
