Description

Photograph, from left to right, of an infant, Romayne Shaw, Mertie West, Agnes Whitaker and Abraham Whitaker gathering around a table in the group's camp near Rush Creek. Abraham Whitaker stands nearest to camera at right. He has his back turned to the camera as he faces towards the table. Mertie West and Agnes Whitaker stand behind the table at center. Both hang their heads down to tend to the table. Romayne Shaw walks behind them at left. His back is mostly to camera as he moves towards the right. An infant stands to the left of the table and appears to follow Romayne. The table stands at center and is covered with a tablecloth, dining utensils and food supplies. A few camping stools stand on the ground in front of the table. A stream flows behind the group and trees line the opposite bank in the distance. According to the accompanying negative sleeve, the caption identifies the infant as Eleanor Shaw. Eleanor Shaw was born in 1920, which would make her about 8 or 9 at the time of this photograph.
