Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. A distant view, from left to right, of: Forrest Whitaker, an infant, Romayne Shaw, Edith Shaw, Mertie West, Agnes Whitaker and Abraham Whitaker, all gathered around their campsite table near Rush Creek. The group stands in a clearing in the center of the image. A table, covered in a white tablecloth, stands amidst the group and is viewed from an angle. Camping stools litter the campsite near the table. Romayne, Edith, Mertie and Agnes all stand in the middle behind the table and face towards the general direction of the camera. Forrest Whitaker stands to the left of the table and faces right. Abraham Whitaker stands to the right of the table and faces left. An infant stands to the left of the table between Forrest and Romayne. A tent juts into the image at right. The campsite is surrounded by trees and a stream flows behind it. Trees line the opposite bank in the background. Text from negative sleeve: 840. Rush Creek, Calif. August 1929. Our beautiful camp by the stream. L to R: Forrest Whitaker. Romayne Shaw. Edith Shaw.
