Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the West, Whitaker and Shaw party's campsite near Rock Creek and Toms Place. Their campsite stands in the near distance, just right-of-center. A canopied tent stands on the far side of a trail and behind a large, leaning pine tree. Someone stands beneath the canopy. Their camping supplies litter the area. Slightly in front and to the left of the canopy, a large pine tree stands. Only its trunk is visible. It rises from the ground, left-of-center, and leans over towards the right. A dirt path lined with rocks stretches from the lower right corner and up to the left. Trees stand in the background. Text from negative sleeve: 856. Rock Creek trip, 1941. Three views of our camp about 1/4 mile up Rock Creek from Tom's Place. The camp of the Leaning Pine.
