Photograph of the West, Whitaker and Shaw party's makeshift shaving and grooming stand set up in their campsite near Rock Creek. The dressing table stands at center and is constructed out of sticks. A hat an a mirror hang off of a supporting stick at left. Shaving implements and a second mirror sit atop the table. A wash basin sits on a large tree root near the ground in front of the table. Rags and towels hang behind the table. At right, a stream flows behind the table. Trees stand in the background at left and on the opposite bank of the stream at right.
Text from negative sleeve: 857. Rock Creek trip 1941. The shving[sic] place. Forrest Whitaker's hat hanging on the pole. Same, with Mertie West fixing her hair. 2 negatives
