Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph, from left to right, of Josie Shaw, Mertie West, Forrest Whitaker and Agnes Whitaker sitting around a table in their camp and taking a meal near Rock Creek. They sit around a square table at center and are covered by a canopy. Mertie West and Agnes Whitaker sit nearest to camera with their backs to the camera. Mertie West pours a drink. Josie sits to the left of Mertie and faces towards the right. Forrest Whitaker sits furthest from camera and faces towards Mertie. They sit beneath a large canopy that stands right-of-center. Pots, pans and other dining utensils sit upon crates and tables that line the perimeter of the canopy along its left side. Behind the canopy, at right, a pipe cuts through the foliage. According to the negative sleeve, the man in the photo is identified as H. H. West. H. H. West is not this man. The man is Forrest Whitaker. Text from negative sleeve: 858. Rock Creek trip 1941. Our camp. L to R: Josie Shaw. Mertie West. H.H.West. Agnes Whitaker
