Photograph of three large ships sailing near the horizon in San Francisco Bay. The ships sail in a loose clump, left-of-center, near the horizon. The nearest ship sails at center and appears to approach the camera. It is flanked by 2 small boats. The second ship sails further in the distance at left and appears to sail in that direction. A third ship at center, but rightmost, also sails in the far distance towards the left. All three are viewed from a ferry.
Text from negative sleeve: 930. San Francisco, 1898. Waterfront. Ships on the bay, taken from ferry boat.
