Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Hat Creek with a mountain in the distance. There are trees throughout. The mountain may be Mt. Lassen. Text from negative sleeve: 1006. Shasta County trip, 1915. 1. Hat Creek, which we are traveling up toward Mt Lassen. When Mt Lassen erupted the first time Hat Creek became a flood and tore out a wide channel, as can be seen. The stream was about the color of milk when we were on this trip, over a year later. 2. Our objective was Logan Lake down near Mt Lassen. On the bank of the lake was an old log cabin, with dirt floor. We were glad to use it as a rain storm came up about time we got there in the evening, and we built our fire in the cabin on the ground, and cooked supper. I went to the lake for a pail of water, and when I got back to the cabin in the dusk, Bystle threw his flash light beam into the pail and we saw four or five big leeches about 5 or 6 inches long. We sure boiled that water. 2 views of the cabin. 3 negatives.
