Smith's boys, Donald and Russell stand at center and right. The boy at center stands slightly forward of the group, stands in profile facing right, but turns his head to look to the camera. The boy at right looks directly to the camera. Behind Harry Schmitz, a car (partial view) is parked on the far left. It is viewed from the side and faces right. A tall pine stands to the right of and behind the car. A long branch extends from the ground behind Harry, it stretches on an upward angle towards the right. From the branch, a clothesline is tied.
