Photograph of Harry Schmitz standing in the campsite set up among the remnants of an abandoned logging operation near the McCloud River. Harry Schmitz stands in the distance at center. He stands to the right of a large log and leans on a large sack stacked atop the log. He stands in profile and faces to the left. Camping gear sits clustered together behind him on the right. The rear end of a car sits in the foreground at right. The rest of the car is out-of-frame to the right. Shrubs line the edge of the campsite's clearing. Tall pines stand in the background.
Text from negative sleeve: 1034. Trinity County trip, 1917. Two views of our camp on McCloud River near its source, about 15 or 20 miles east of McCloud. On a level grassy bench right on the river, with big logs around us. The surrounding country had been cut overm [sic] burnt over and abandoned. An old saw mill close by was falling into ruin. We saw only one party in our two day stay here and they only stopped to eat lunch. A swell camp. Harry Schmitz is standing by the logs in one view. 2 films.
