Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of H. H. West strolling across a field while carrying some sage hen he shot. H. H. West stands at center and turns his head to look to the camera. A pipe hangs from his mouth while he carries a rifle in one hand and a few sage hen with the other. A car (partial) view is parked behind him at right. The car is viewed at an angle from the side; it faces right and extends beyond the frame. The field H. H. West stands in extends into the distance and trees line the horizon in the far distance. A couple of white lines stretch across the image. Text from negative sleeve: 1050. Trinity County trip, 1917. Coon Camp. Near Hayden Hill, Calif. 1. On road we stopped at a house to inquire about the very bad Hayden Hill grade. Many cars could not make it. We just wiggled over on the low with the boys out with rocks to block the wheels if I had to stop. Harry Schmitz may be seen coming out of the farm yard. 2. Small film? Our camp at Coon Camp right on the flat plateau. Cold. Froze water in the spring next morning. Wilfrid Cline Jr at the stove. 3. H.H.West with limit of sage hen. 3 films
