Harry Schmitz kneels, right-of-center, and faces towards the right. He holds up a sage hen while he cleans the animal. Behind him and to the left, Wilfrid Cline, Jr. sits on the ground. He holds onto his knee with one hand and reaches his other hand behind his head as he looks to the camera. His other leg extends beyond the left frame. Four sage hen lie on the ground in front of him. A box or crate sits on the ground behind and between Wilfrid and Harry. A field extends behind them and trees line the horizon in the far distance.
