Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Wilfrid Cline, Jr. sitting in the backseat of H. H. West's Buick which is parked in front of the Southern Pacific Railroad depot in Truckee. The Buick is parked at center. It is viewed at an angle from the front of the side; it faces towards the right. Its license plate reads, "CAL 288 467." Wilfrid Cline, Jr. faces towards the right as he sits in the back seat of the car, left-of-center. A man (Harry Schmitz?) sits in the front seat, but is obscured by the windshield. A utility pole stands behind the car and a couple more stand in the distance at left. Behind the rightmost utility pole, the Truckee train depot stands. It is viewed at an angle. The narrower side faces right. A sign on the roof reads, "TO SAN FRANCISCO 228 M TRUCKEE ELEVATION 5828 FEET. TO [unreadable]." A two-story building stands behind and to the left of the depot and carts and houses stand in the background at right. Text from negative sleeve: 1054. Trinity County trip, 1917. Truckee, Calif. 1.
