West's Buick is parked in the mid-ground at center. It is viewed at an angle from the side and the rear; it faces left. Its license plate reads, "CAL 620 1914." A man (right) and a woman (left) stand by the side of the car and converse with Mary A. West who sits inside. To the far right, Frances West walks along the driveway towards the right. Behind the car, buildings at the ranch stand. They are cabin-like. Mountains rise in the distance. Text from negative sleeve: 1071. Silver Lake trip 1914. Independence-Big Pine. 2 views of the Half Way House. 2. Across the road from the Half Way house was a cooler made of burlap standing in the stream that then flowed along the road.
