Photograph, from left to right, of: Mary A. West, Elizabeth West, Chester Schmitz, Frances West and Irene Schmitz, standing around the camp near Silver Lake while someone cooks. The group stands in the near distance and no one looks to the camera. Mary A. West stands leftmost and separate from the rest of the group. She is in profile, facing right. She casts her gaze slightly downward while she rests her hands to her hips. Standing in front of and to the right of her is the camp stove. A fire pit is to the right of that. Elizabeth West stands in front of the fire pit with her back to the camera. Chester Schmitz is to the right of her. He leans into her and wraps an arm around her waist. At the fire pit, someone (partially obscured by Elizabeth and Chester) seems to cook up some eggs. Frances West and Irene Schmitz approach the fire pit from the right. They stand behind the backs of Elizabeth and Chester. Frances approaches with her back to the camera and Irene is in profile, facing left. At the back edge of camp, towels hang from tree branches that lie on the ground. Tall grasses line the back edge of camp as well and mountains rise in the far distance.
