Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Distant photograph, from left to right, of H. H. West and Dave F. Smith sitting in a boat in the middle of Silver Lake. They sit in a boat at the center of the image just off the shore. The boat is viewed from the side and faces right. The boat dips down on the left side. H. H. West sits here and fishes with his back to the camera. In the center of the boat, Dave F. Smith rows. He faces left. In the foreground, a sliver of rocky shore cuts across the image and bisects the water. Silver Lake extends past the boat and into the distance. Mountains rise from the opposite shore. Text from negative sleeve: 1104. Smith West tour 1913. August. Silver Lake. Not a boat on the lake. There was an old raft. Dave Smith rowing, H.H.West fishing. Lots of fish. Only one other camp at Silver Lake when we came in; Joe Welch and party from Pasadena. While we were there a man named Smith of Masonic, Nevada, drove in with wife and boy in a spring wagon. We had the whole country to ourselves. 1 film
