Photograph looking down Main Street in Bishop. The street extends at an angle from lower left and narrows towards the horizon, right-of-center. The right side of the street stretches along the right edge of the frame. Signs for businesses on the right side of the road, going back, read: "CLARK," "TELEPHONE PAY STATION," and "VALLEY VIEW HOTEL." On the left side of the road, a barn stands nearest to camera on the left edge of the frame. Signs for businesses on the left side of the road, going back, read: "SUMMER'S ICE CREAM PARLOR," "[...] FAIR," and "Keough's CITY MARKET." A lone man walks through the street at center. Telephone lines crisscross overhead and silhouetted mountains rise in the far distance.
Text from negative sleeve: 1124. Smith West tour August 1913. Bishop, Calif. 1. Watterson Bros Garage at entrance to town of Bishop. 2. It was noon Sunday, and wehad [sic] lunch in a little room in some sort of a hotel. No one on street. I took this picture of the Main Street at Bishop about 1 o'clock, Sunday, about the last of August 1913. The box like affair at the right with canvas around it housed a mineral exhibit. 2 films
