Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph, from front to back, of Mary A. West and Nella West taking a break during a roadside stop along the aqueduct road by Owens Lake. Mary A. West stands in the foreground, left-of-center, and holds a pair of binoculars. She is only visible from the torso up and faces towards the right. Behind her and to the left, H. H. West's Buick is parked on the dirt road. It is in partial view and is seen at an angle from the side. The car faces left and the front end extends out of the left edge of the frame. The driver's door swings open. Nella West sits in the backseat and holds up a newspaper. She faces left and is obscured by the newspaper. The dirt road extends back towards the right from behind the car. A rocky, earthen mound stands parallel on the far side of the road behind the car. A sliver of a mountain is visible in the far distance at right. Text from negative sleeve: 1126.
