Mary West and Bessie Velzy stand on the rocks next to the ocean at La Jolla. Mrs. Velzy leans on the rock while Mrs. West stands with her hands behind her back. There is shore visible at the right and boats in the distance.
Mary West (Mary Adelbert Teel West Shepard) was H. H. West's first wife and the mother of his children.
