Description

West, Frances West, Elizabeth West, Kate Schmitz, Irene Schmitz, Chester Schmitz, Albert Schmitz and an unidentified man posing while standing atop a stone wall in front of a tower at the Woreland Castle in Moosa Canyon. Woreland Castle was built and lived in by Isaac J. Frazee. The group stands at center and is viewed at a distance from the ground as they stand behind a stone wall and in front of a low stone tower. The children standing in front, from left to right, are: Frances West, Elizabeth West, Irene Schmitz and Chester Schmitz. The adults stand at back. Albert Schmitz stands second from the right. Kate Schmitz and Mary A. West (in no particular order) stand behind the children at left. At far right stands the unidentified man. The round, stone tower rises behind them at right. Ivy crawls across the left side of the tower and crenellations cap the top of it. In the foreground, a trellis stands at left. A dirt pathway extends from the bottom edge at center and towards the castle-like structure in the near distance at center. Cactus plants stand in the foreground along the right edge. Text from negative sleeve: 1156. San Diego County tour about 1915. Pala. 1. The indian [sic] homes at Pala. 2. Moosa Valley between Escondido and Valley Center. 3.
