Irene Schmitz stands in front of the table at center; she is nearest to the camera. She faces slightly left as she looks down to the playing cards she holds in her hands. Mary A. West and Kate Schmitz sit across from one another at the camp dining table. Kate Schmitz faces towards the camera and looks towards Irene. Mary A. West sits in profile to the right, but turns to look back towards Frances West. Frances stands furthest from the camera, behind the table; she looks to the camera. Dining implements sit atop the table and line the camp along the left edge of the image. In the distance at right, A. B. Schmitz appears to be hanging up his coat. Darkness occupies the background.
