Photograph, from front to back, of Mertie West and H. H. West, Jr. standing on the front steps outside the Old Point Loma Lighthouse in the near distance. The lighthouse stands at center and is viewed from the east. A set of wooden steps lead up to a central front door that is flanked by 2 windows on each side. Mertie West stands on the right side of the second step and faces towards the right. H. H. West, Jr. stands behind her about 4 more steps up. He is more central and faces the camera as he reaches his hand over to the right rail. A dirt pathway surrounded by low brush passes across the foreground in front of the lighthouse.
