According to the accompanying negative sleeve, the power plant was visited by the West, Schmitz and Lemberger party around 1912. The plant that stands in the images was not completed until 1917. It is more likely these images were taken around 1917 or later.
Photograph of Power Plant No. 1 standing in the near distance in San Francisquito Canyon. The plant stands offset to the right. The long side of the building rises over a pool of water in the foreground. A concrete barrier winds along the right edge towards the building and barricades the water sitting to the left of it. A series of windows lines the side of the building. Beyond the building at left, a worksite and tent are visible. A mountain rises in the distance at left behind the building and worksite.
