According to the negative sleeve, the power plant in the accompanying photographs was visited by the West, Schmitz and Lemberger party around 1912. The plant that stands in the images was not completed until 1917. It is more likely these images were taken around 1917 or later.
Photograph, from left to right, of: Irene Schmitz, Kate Schmitz, John Lemberger, Minnie West, Ray Schmitz, Chester Schmitz, Al Schmitz, Mary A. West and Christine Schmitz gathered around and dining while stopped somewhere near San Francisquito Canyon. Chester Schmitz sits front and center and looks to the camera. To the left of him, Kate Schmitz sits in profile facing right. Someone sits directly behind her. To the left of Kate and slightly separate from the group, Irene Schmitz sits and looks to the camera. John Lemberger stands, left-of-center, behind the group. He rests a hand in his pocket and gazes off towards the left. Sitting next to one another immediately in front of him are Minnie West and Ray Schmitz. Al Schmitz sits on a car's running board behind and to the right of Ray Schmitz. In front of Al, Mary West sits and looks to camera. Someone sits in front of her and peeks to the camera (maybe Elizabeth West?). In front of Mary and Elizabeth?, Christine Schmitz sits and faces slightly to the left. Blankets or cloths cover the ground at the center of the group. Dining utensils and supplies sit on the cloth and around the group. A car is parked at center behind everyone. It is viewed at an angle from the side and rear; it faces right. Beyond the car, fencing stands in the distance at right and a tent-like structure stands in the distance at left. A brush-covered hillside rises in the background.
