Description

Photograph, from left to right, of Frances West, Irene Schmitz, Elizabeth West and Chester Schmitz posing while standing in a row on a footbridge that crosses a stream in San Francisquito Canyon. They stand at center on a bridge that is elevated over a stream and are viewed at a slight angle. The bridge sags as it stretches back from right to left. Chester stands nearest to camera and Frances is furthest from camera. All look to the camera and all rest their hands to the bridge's handrails. The girls all smile and Chester yawns. Beneath the bridge, the stream flows at center under the bridge towards the right and to the right of Chester as is disappears into the distance. Tree branches hang down above the children. Behind them, tall grasses stand along the bank at left and stretch into the distance. Low mountains rise in the far distance. Text from negative sleeve: 1180. San Francisquito Canyon, about 1914. 1.
