Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the West and Mead party's campsite set up in a grove of trees in San Gabriel Canyon. A clearing among the trees stretches across the foreground and towards the campsite in the near distance at center. Left-of-center, members of the camping party (possibly Will Mead, Sena Mead and Mary A. West) are gathered together (maybe to eat). A woman stands leftmost, a man crouches down in front of her and another woman at right bends forward, facing towards the left. Right-of-center, the large camp tent is pitched among the trees. Beyond the campsite, trees dot the land that extends into the distance. Text from negative sleeve: 1184. San Gabriel Canyon about 1903. Will Mead was living near Irwindale on a little ranch.
