Photograph of Glen Velzy's cabin, La Casita, in Santa Anita Canyon as viewed from the front. The cabin stands in the near distance at center. It is viewed from the front at a slight angle. A rock-lined landing sits low in front of the cabin. A porch stretches across the center of the cabin. Linens hang over the porch rail. Above the door, a sign reads, "LA-CASITA," and "57." A pine stands in front of the cabin along the left edge of the frame. Trees stand behind the cabin and occupy the background.
Text from negative sleeve: 1224. Santa Anita Canyon, July 4, 5 & 6, 1941. Glen Velzy's cabin "La Casitas." Glen bought a cabin in the canyon after Gene Velzy's cabin was washed out in the big flood. Glen asked Mertie and I to go up over the Fourth, and he took alon [sic] Nina Hiser-Meyers. We drove to the Charlton flats in Glen's Buick. Then hired a burro to pack the provisions and hiked to the cabin, about 3 miles down to the creek, and up the creek. 1. Our pack train on arrival at the cabin. L to R: Mertie West, the burro, Glen Velzy [and] Nina Meyers. 2. The cabin - Las Casitas. 3. Another poor film of the cabin. 3 films
