The cabin stands in the near distance at center. It is viewed from the front at a slight angle. A rock-lined landing sits low in front of the cabin. A porch stretches across the center of the cabin. Linens hang over the porch rail. Above the door, a sign reads, "LA-CASITA," and "57." A pine stands in front of the cabin along the left edge of the frame. Trees stand behind the cabin and occupy the background. Text from negative sleeve: 1224. Santa Anita Canyon, July 4, 5 & 6, 1941. Glen Velzy's cabin "La Casitas." Glen bought a cabin in the canyon after Gene Velzy's cabin was washed out in the big flood. Glen asked Mertie and I to go up over the Fourth, and he took alon [sic] Nina Hiser-Meyers. We drove to the Charlton flats in Glen's Buick. Then hired a burro to pack the provisions and hiked to the cabin, about 3 miles down to the creek, and up the creek. 1.
