Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Candid photograph of a group of about 5 Boy Scouts standing along the edge of the pool beneath Sturtevant Falls and tossing one of their own into the water. The pool sits at left and the rocky shore is to the right in the foreground. The shore at right stretches back towards the rocky canyon wall. Grouped together, left-of-center, are the Boy Scouts. At left, along the water's edge, 3 scouts support another that they hold by the arms and legs. His body hangs down to the ground between them. They appear to get ready to toss him into the pool. Standing behind them, but closer to the camera are 2 more boys. All stand with their backs to the camera, except for the boy getting tossed into the water. A rocky canyon wall stretches behind them, occupying the background. Text from negative sleeve: 1226. Santa Anita Canyon, July 4, 5 & 6, 1941. Glen Velzy's cabin, Las Casitas. 1.
