Girls play on a swings with the North Beach Bath House at the right. The girls wears hats and bonnets. There are water towers on the cliffs above. Men sit on the wooden fence by the bathhouse. At the left edge of the negative, there is a black line and on the other side there is a bit of what may be another image.
Text from negative sleeve: 1231. Santa Monica, California about 1895. 1. 2. 3. 4. Four view of the old North Beach Bath House. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Six views of the old Santa Monica pier, and beach in the vicinity. 11. 12. Two views of the children's play ground and teeter board. 13. A steam engine on the beach but what it is doing I do not recall. Note the sign "Eckert & Hoff [sic] Restaurant" on 13. A great resort in those days. Many a fish dinner I ate in there. Also we used to buy our clams for bait there when we went to Port Los Angeles to fish. Also ran a big bar. 13 films.
