Photograph of servicemen firing a cannon during Decoration (Memorial) Day services at Los Angeles National Cemetery while a spectator watches. The cannon stands, left-of-center, in an open field. It is viewed from the rear with its muzzle towards the horizon at right. A serviceman stands in front of the back end of the cannon, left-of-center. He faces towards the right and crosses his arms in front of him. Slightly further back and to the right of the cannon, another serviceman stands with his back to the camera. He holds a ramrod upright in his right hand as he watches the cannon fire. A spectator stands to the left side of the cannon. His back is to the camera as he crouches down and cranes his head to watch the cannon fire. A thick cloud of smoke billows out from the muzzle of the cannon at right. Low mountains stand in the far distance.
