Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. A blurry photograph of Game Warden Harry Pritchard and 4 others cooking around a barbecue pit at the Rubber Men's Picnic in Santa Monica Canyon. The barbecue pit sits on the ground in the near distance at center. Harry Pritchard stands on the left side of the pit, nearest to camera. He faces towards the right while pointing towards the center of the pit. A man in an apron walks behind him towards the right. Three others assist in preparing the barbecue. One stands on the far side of the pit at center. He faces forward as he bends over the pit. The other two stand at right. The man nearest the camera at right does not wear an apron. The man behind him wears an apron and carries a tray of food; both face towards the left. Smoke wafts upward from the pit. Behind the barbecue pit, a long table or series of tables extends horizontally behind the men preparing the barbecue. Beyond the tables, attendees of the picnic mill about and mingle.
