Description

A shaky photograph of Vincent Loos standing over a table and helping to prepare barbecue at the Rubber Men's Picnic in Santa Monica Canyon. A table juts into the image from the right. Vincent Loos stands, leftof-center, to the left of the table's corner. He wears an apron and faces towards the right. Vincent hunches over a tray of meat that sits on the table. Cooking trays and utensils sit atop the table. Sacks, crates and pots sit on the ground beneath the table and next to Vincent. Another person stands behind and to the left of Vincent, along the left edge of the image and mostly out-of-frame. A tree branch hangs down from the upper left corner. A canyon wall stretches across the background on an angle towards the right. Text from negative sleeve: 1242. Santa Monica Canyon, about 1908. Rubber Mens picnic. 1. Jim Jeffries eating with us.
