Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the clubhouse for the Bluebill (formerly McAleer) Club as viewed from the road. A dirt road passes across the foreground along the bottom edge of the image. The shadow of a car is cast onto the road. Grasses and brush extend from the road toward a dilapidated fence. Beyond the fence, the single-story clubhouse for the Bluebill Club stands at center. Hanging over the center of the porch, a sign reads, "BLUEBILL." Ivy-covered outbuildings stand to the right side of the clubhouse. The surrounding land sprawls into the distance. Text from negative sleeve: 1248. Gun Clubs, Orange Co., Oct. 17, 1937. The sign over the entrance says "Blue Bill" but when it was built, it was called the McAleer Club. Mayor McAleer of Los Angeles was, I think, the promoter. The Blue Bill club house was originally across the road from the McAleer. 1 film
