Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of H. H. West's Baby Grand Chevrolet parked in the near distance alongside a road passing through Lebec. The car faces towards the camera, right-of-center. A dirt road extends through the town behind the Chevrolet. It stretches on an angle from the lower left and up towards the right, behind the car. A large tree stands in the distance on the far side of the road at left. A few cars are parked beneath it. Buildings line the far side of the road beyond the tree. Tree branches hang from the top edge of the image and over the car. In the far distance, mountains stretch across the background. Text from negative sleeve: 1260. Lebec, Calif. About 1923. I had our Baby Grand Chevrolet, and took Frank Beckett, Wilfrid Cline Jr and Elizabeth West to Sherwin Creek, Long Valley, thence over Tioga to Yosemite and then home. Here we are at Lebec in the Tejon Pass. 1. Our car under the oak trees. 2. Frank Beckett standing beside the car. 2 films
